The Pharmaceuticals and Health Care Committee focuses on antitrust and related issues of interest to the pharmaceutical and health care industries. The Committee serves to keep the Section membership abreast of current developments in this highly dynamic area of law through, among other things, discussions of recent case law developments at regular bi-monthly meetings, as well as periodic panel discussions and CLE programs involving leading practitioners in the area. Sample topics of discussion include, among other things, the evolving case law relating to challenges to patent settlements under F.T.C. v. Actavis, recent developments in the case law concerning “product hopping,” exclusive dealing arrangements, antitrust investigations in the industry by federal and state enforcers, and antitrust issues pertaining to health care industry mergers and the medical device sector.
The Pharmaceuticals and Health Care Committee offers members the opportunity to become active in the New York Antitrust Bar through program planning and speaking and writing opportunities. It also provides a forum within which its members can connect with fellow practitioners interested in the application of antitrust laws to the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. The Committee welcomes practitioners from a broad spectrum, including plaintiff-side, defense, government, and in-house lawyers.
We encourage those interested in pharmaceutical and health care antitrust to reach out to the Committee leadership to learn more about joining our group.
