This basic to intermediate level program is structured to cover practical issues typically arising in today’s workplace on which corporate counsel or private practitioners with a general practice may be called to handle on behalf of the employer or the employee.  Faculty will share tips and drafting strategies designed to avoid costly litigation. The program will cover covenants not to compete, practicing before state and federal agencies, the hiring process (background checks, social media and credit checks/salary history), FMLA/Paid Family Leave and other leave laws, drug testing (pre and post-hire) and workplace policies in the age of legalized marijuana, settlement agreements, and ethical considerations for attorneys acting as investigators.
