The Domestic Violence Initiative is a joint collaboration of the New York State Bar Association and Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. The initiative aims to enhance legal services in domestic violence cases. Another goal of the initiative is to improve representation by providing legal education to attorneys on domestic violence. This training program provides comprehensive CLE accredited programming on all aspects of domestic violence legal representation. Starting from interviewing clients with a trauma informed perspective to litigating protective order cases, this series of seminars gives practitioners a primer of best practices in litigating cases and representing clients.Through this series, attorneys will also learn about how special populations can be impacted by family violence, such as children and older adults.
