Newly admitted attorneys who belong to the New York State Bar Association are now eligible for access to Clio, a web-based practice management system, at no cost for one year.

In addition, all State Bar Association members will receive an exclusive lifetime discount of 10 percent, under the terms of an enhanced partnership agreement between the association and Themis Solutions, Inc., Clio’s parent company.

Designed especially for small and mid-size law firms, Clio provides a cloud-based practice management platform that helps attorneys track their cases, client contacts, time, billing, documents and other matters. They can access the data securely from a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone.

“As the legal profession continues to undergo vast change, technology, like Clio, can help attorneys to better manage their practices and serve their clients,” said State Bar President David M. Schraver of Rochester (Nixon Peabody). “We are pleased to make Clio access free to our newest generation of members and to offer an exclusive lifetime discount to all of our members.”

The State Bar Association, which entered an Affinity Partnership with Clio in 2011, is one of more than 30 state bar associations offering Clio as a member benefit.

The New York State Bar Association, which has 76,000 members, is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.

Clio, which is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is a comprehensive cloud-based practice management platform specifically designed for small and mid-sized law firms. It was founded in 2007.
