Albany attorney Michelle L. Haskin is the 2015 recipient of the Attorney Professionalism Award, presented by the Committee on Attorney Professionalism of the New York State Bar Association.

The award recognizes a member who displays the highest standards of professionalism, commitment to promoting respect for the legal system, outstanding ethical conduct, competence, good judgment, integrity and civility. Haskin received her award on January 29 in New York City during the State Bar Association’s House of Delegates dinner.

“Michelle Haskin exemplifies the best of our profession: the highest standard of expertise, competence, courtesy, compassion and service,” said Lillian Moy (Legal Aid Society of Northeastern N.Y.), chair of the Committee on Attorney Professionalism. “It’s a privilege to recognize her with the Attorney Professionalism Award.”

An attorney at McNamee, Lochner, Titus & Williams, Haskin concentrates her practice on matrimonial and family law, custody, domestic violence and interstate issues. Her ethical conduct has been noted by clients, judges and colleagues alike. Haskin often deals with complex custody and matrimonial matters—frequently involving domestic violence issues—that have resulted in judgments protecting her clients and their children.

Haskin has been a volunteer for The Legal Project, which aims to make the law accessible to those in need as well as furthering the legal community’s involvement in pro bono work, since its inception in 1998. She promotes pro bono in her firm and the legal community and often mentors volunteer attorneys.

Within the State Bar Association, Haskin is co-chair of the Child Custody Subcommittee of the Family Law Section. She is a past president of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association and is chair of the matrimonial committee of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. Haskin received her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and earned her law degree from Albany Law School.

The 74,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation.  It was founded in 1876.
