Meet New York’s Commercial Judges: By and for Junior Lawyers – Part 9

Meet New York’s Commercial Judges: By and for Junior Lawyers – Part 9

Meet NY’s Commercial Judges Part 6_675

The Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar is continuing its series devoted to having junior attorneys interact and learn from New York’s Commercial Division Justices. We encourage you to invite junior attorneys from your firm to attend which they can do virtually from the office. There is so much to learn. It is free and invaluable for learning what these jurists expect from lawyers who appear before them and other strategies for success in the Commercial Division. This program will not be recorded – don't miss out!

This multi-part program which will involve young lawyers being paired with Commercial Division Justices to put on a "casual" conversation geared to what young lawyers (or future lawyers) should know about the court system and appearing before a Commercial Division Justice.

This Session's guest: Justice Linda S. Jamieson

Justice Linda S. Jamieson currently sits in the Commercial Division and a Civil Trial Part of the Supreme Court. She was first elected as a Justice of the Supreme Court in November 2002.  Following her election, she was assigned to an Individual Assignment Part, where she presided over a variety of cases including, but not limited to, torts, real estate, commercial, employment discrimination, medical malpractice and contact disputes.  Justice Jamieson was reelected to a second 14-year term in November 2016.  In June 2006, Justice Jamieson was

assigned to a dedicated Matrimonial Part where she sat until 2010.  Prior to her election to

Supreme Court, Justice Jamieson was appointed by the Governor as a Family Court Judge in

Westchester County.  She was subsequently elected to that position, serving a total of six years

there.
