With the coming into effect in Japan on April 1, 2024 of the Singapore Convention on Mediation, the NYSBA International Section and the Daini Tokyo Bar Association (known as Niben) have decided to host a joint seminar in Tokyo to discuss the expected impact of the Singapore Convention as well as other recent developments in international arbitration and mediation. This seminar will start with comments from two lawyers from each of the NYSBA and Niben sides, followed by a panel discussion and a short Q&A.
The two bar associations hosted an earlier Tokyo joint seminar in March of this year in commemoration of the memorandum of understanding between the two bar associations that was signed in 2023.
