Best Practice in Telephonic Fair Hearings
This program brings together Medicaid and public benefits advocates to review and discuss best practices and new/ developing issues in telephonic fair hearings. The program addresses the ongoing shift from in-person to telephonic fair hearings since the beginning of the COVID pandemic and covers best practices on a wide range of topics from submission of evidence, presenting effective oral testimony by telephone, limitations and challenges of the telephonic hearing platform (including language access and other accessibility issues), how best to prepare (yourself and your client), and what to do if something goes wrong. The program also discusses recently filed litigation regarding Public Assistance and SNAP Fair Hearing delays, and policy changes and advocacy around Medicaid and home care hearings.
