Invitation to Join the Committee on LGBT People and the Law

3.13.2020

The importance of public service and public duty are at the heart of the qualities that we cherish within our profession.  As the nation’s largest volunteer bar association, the New York State Bar Association has historically been on the cutting edge of ensuring that attorneys live up to our civic responsibility to address issues that others cannot or will not.  We do this not only within New York State but also nationally and across the entire globe.

For years, the LGBTQ People and the Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association has been a leader in ensuring that the voices of LGBTQ people and their allies are heard.  From drafting amicus briefs, to advocating for legislation to ensure the protection of civil liberties, and providing opportunities for lawyers to learn more through social and continuing legal education programs, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and active part of the Association.

We would welcome that you take the opportunity now to join us in our important work.  There are a number of ways to get involved, all ultimately in service to the LGBTQ community and our allies across the entire State of New York.

Please feel free to reach out if we can answer any questions.
