The Birth of AI’s Next Generation
11.14.2025
Artificial intelligence continues to evolve behind a new generation of autonomous, goal-seeking systems that can act on behalf of humans.
An upcoming New York State Bar Association CLE course entitled Agentic AI and Vibe Coding for Lawyers will explore the questions of liability, duty of care, confidentiality, and professional responsibility related to this technology.
Computer code, which has so far been written by human beings, is now being generated by artificial intelligence. Rather than manually typing every line of code, users may now use vibe code by describing what they want and letting the AI system translate that request into code.
Agentic AI can operate autonomously. It makes decisions and pursues goals independently while only asking for human input when needed.
The Nov. 20 program is designed for legal professionals with little or no technical background. It unpacks the technical basics, explores hypotheticals, and places these innovations within legal frameworks – from contract law and negligence to professional ethics and emerging regulation.
Matthew Lowe, director and counsel of cybersecurity, privacy, data and AI at Kyndryl, and a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Communications and Publications, will host the discussion.
The program is sponsored by the association’s Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, Committee on Technology and the Legal Profession, Committee on Law Practice Management, and Committee on Continuing Legal Education.
There is no cost for New York State Bar Association members. Attendees will receive one Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection – Ethics Continuing Legal Education credit.
