Why a Leadership Academy?
In recent years, our Section has recognized that many talented and committed members face barriers to becoming more involved. Some members are simply unfamiliar with the structure of our Committees and the opportunities available.
Others lack relationships with Section leadership or are unsure how to navigate the appointment process. Even those ready to serve may appreciate training in the leadership skills that ensure success, from building trust and fostering collaboration to managing a Committee effectively.
The RPLS Leadership Academy will address these challenges head-on. Through a structured series of programs, the Academy will reduce or eliminate barriers to participation and help every member see a clear path to leadership within the RPLS, the broader NYSBA community, and beyond.
Empowering Great Leaders
The Academy will focus on developing strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and executive presence, essential traits for effective leadership. In addition to outside, professional speakers, Academy participants will engage directly with Section and Committee leadership, forging relationships that will help them navigate and thrive within our organizational structure. We expect these gatherings to create opportunities and spark new ideas while reinforcing the sense of community that makes the RPLS special.

There is no registration fee for Academy participants. Discounted hotel rooms or a Zoom link will be made available for Academy participants located outside of New York City commuting distance. In person attendance is strongly encouraged.
