The New York State Bar Association is launching a nine-part lunch and learn, continuing legal education program that will explore far-reaching issues on the use of artificial intelligence and its impact on the legal profession.

The program “Listen and Learn and Enhance Your Understanding of AI, GAI, and Agentic AI in the Legal Profession”. The first session will cover state regulation and ethics of AI use. Other topics throughout the series include discussions of what attorneys need to know about incorporating AI, generative AI and agentic AI into their practices, updates on regulations, and the admissibility of AI/GAI evidence. Sessions will be at noon Feb. 18 through June 10, with the exception of the April 1 session that will begin at 10 a.m.

The program was developed by the Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies.

Vivian Wesson, executive vice president and general counsel at The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church, chairs the committee, and Marissa J. Moran, attorney and chair and professor, Law and Paralegal Studies, New York City College of Technology, CUNY, is its vice chair.

The committee examines the legal, social, and ethical impact of AI, generative AI, agentic AI, and other emerging technologies on the legal profession and global community. It also focuses on the positive and negative implications of AI use by the legal community and the public, and its impact on access to justice, legal regulations, and privacy.
