Partnership agreement signed in Bangkok, Thailand May 8, 2026.

The New York State Bar Association signed a partnership with the Lawyers Council of Thailand to foster academic and professional cooperation between lawyers in Thailand and the United States.

Thanapol Kongjiang, President of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Carlos Ramos-Mrosovsky, a representative from the NYSBA House of Delegates and appearing on behalf of NYSBA President Kathleen Sweet.  The signing ceremony took place May 8 at the Lawyers Council of Thailand building in Bangkok.

“We connect with bar associations around the world to forge important alliances. The overarching theme of our affiliations is to promote, protect and defend the rule of law and to strengthen the legal profession,” said President Kathleen Sweet.

The objective of the partnership is to build relationships between the two groups including joint legal education seminars and supporting each other in international legal research. NYSBA International Section member John Frangos is a partner working at Tilleke and Gibbins’ Bangkok office who is committed to this partnership.

“As Thailand chapter chair, I will work with NYSBA and the Lawyers Council of Thailand to deepen our relationship,” said Frangos.

A statement on the Lawyers Council of Thailand facebook page read: “Both parties aspire to expand their cooperation to encompass social initiatives and the mutually beneficial exchange of academic materials, with the aim of fostering an efficient and sustainable network for legal services on an international level.”

The New York State Bar Association has partnerships with 39 bar and legal associations across six continents.
