Please join us on Thursday, August 20 for the Women in Law Section’s continued virtual book club series. The featured book, The Lies That Bind, is a mesmerizing and emotionally irresistible story that explores the never-ending search for love and truth. Protagonist Cecily Gardner, a Midwest girl newly relocated to New York City who is desperately trying to make it as a reporter in the Big Apple is dealing with the end of a long-term relationship when she serendipitously bumps into Grant on the next barstool. All her senses come alive as she navigates the twists and turns of her emotions in forging an unlikely connection with this handsome stranger. As their relationship grows, Cecily throws caution to the wind and follows her heart over her head. Then Grant disappears in the chaos of 9/11. Fearing the worst, Cecily is heartsick to see Grant's face on a missing poster among the masses in the midst of NYC in the days after the terror attacks. Putting her investigative skills into high-gear, Cecily has more questions than answers as she finds out who the real Grant was.
