The Face of IP: Trade Dress in the Beauty and Cosmetics Industry
In the beauty and cosmetics industry, branding is everything. From packaging design to signature color schemes, these design elements create a distinct brand identity that drives consumer loyalty and market differentiation. Intellectual property, particularly trade dress, plays a critical role in protecting this brand identity.
This panel will explore what trade dress is, the elements that are protectible in the beauty space, and how these protections have evolved over time. We’ll examine high-profile examples and discuss the rise of “dupe culture” and its legal implications. Through a review of recent trade dress litigation our panelists will analyze when dupes cross the line into infringement.

Reimagining DEI: A Legal Roadmap for What Comes Next
In the wake of concerted efforts to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across public and private sectors, law firms and corporate legal departments face increasing scrutiny regarding their internal and external DEI commitments. This program will move beyond the overview of these national developments to focus on actionable strategies for preserving and advancing DEI efforts within the bounds of current legal and regulatory frameworks.
Drawing on recent case law, policy developments, and organizational best practices, panelists will provide a roadmap for designing and implementing DEI programs that are both impactful and legally sustainable. The discussion will address how legal organizations can continue to foster inclusive workplaces, strengthen diverse talent pipelines, and communicate DEI values in ways that withstand external challenge.
