Australia Chapter

Vision and Purpose

NYSBA’s Australian Chapter is focused on growing a thriving community of American-qualified lawyers, paralegals and law students in Australia, and Australian-qualified lawyers, paralegals and law students in America who are, or seek to be, qualified in New York or other US states and share a deep interest in the rule of law and American legal practice.

Our members are part of a network of people dedicated to the exchange of cutting-edge ideas and insights on American law and the impacts they have for law and business in Australia and beyond.  From seasoned legal practitioners both in Australia and America, to law students looking for further study and/or work opportunities, our members are actively building a community dedicated to making those ideas a reality through networking, social events, educational seminars, conferences, and publications.

Objectives

1. Grow NYSBA’s Australian Chapter and foster enduring engagement by members of the Chapter.
2. Promote NYSBA’s Australian Chapter by holding mixer functions for existing and prospective members of the Australian Chapter at least every quarter.
3. Support International Section governance by ensuring at least one member of the Leadership Team attends every Executive Committee and Asia Pacific Council meeting.
4. Provide webinar CLE content by participating in regional and global webinars each year.
5. Support NYSBA’s International Section in 2026 by providing speakers to the NYSBA Global and Regional Conferences.
