Emerging Leaders Committee (LGBTQ+ Section)
The Emerging Leaders Committee makes Section leadership reachable for law students, newly admitted attorneys, and lawyers early in practice, and builds the pipeline of LGBTQ+ attorneys who will lead the profession in the coming years.
Current priorities:
- Networking and mentorship. Students and junior attorneys build relationships with experienced Section members, who offer guidance on leadership and candid, informal mentoring.
- Leadership opportunities. Members plan, coordinate, and attend in-person and remote networking and informational events across New York State, connecting with like-minded attorneys. Every role is calibrated to real schedules and real workloads.
- Law school partnerships. Outreach to LGBTQ+ student organizations at law schools statewide, building lasting Section relationships, joint programming, and a path from student membership into practice.
- Co-presented CLE. Junior members paired with experienced faculty as coordinators, moderators, and co-presenters, so they leave with real speaking experience.
Who should join
The Committee is geared toward law students, newly admitted attorneys, and lawyers roughly within their first decade of practice, but anyone interested is welcome.
