Angélicque Moreno

Angélicque Moreno has been principal and partner at Avanzino & Moreno since 2008 in Brooklyn, NY. She focuses her practice on labor law and construction accidents, product liability, premises liability, negligent security, civil rights violation and automotive cases. She has honed her trial skills at several firms throughout New York and has successfully overseen hundreds of cases from their inception up to and including trial throughout her career.

Her understanding of the profound impact that accidents have upon individuals and their families, and her ability to translate legal concepts of fault and damages to a jury in “everyday” terms have allowed her to achieve substantial results for victims suffering from life altering injuries. To her credit, she has numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements.

Ms. Moreno received a B.A. from Binghamton University in 1990 and a J.D. and from Northeastern University School of Law in 1993. She is very active in the legal community, most recently as President of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers (2019-2020) and sits on the Academy’s Judicial Screening Committee since 2014. She is also active in the leadership of the New York State Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, and the New York City Trial Lawyers’ Alliance.

She has lectured frequently on a variety of topics for the NYS Academy of Trial Lawyers, and has contributed to the Annual Update series for over ten years as a presenter and in recent years as co-author of the Labor Law section.

Judge Golderg Valazquez
Judge Elena Goldberg Velazquez was elected to Yonkers City Court on November 5, 2019. Prior to being elected to the Bench, Judge Goldberg Velazquez worked at the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division First Department (“Appellate Division”) for nearly a decade. Prior to working at the Appellate Division, Judge Goldberg Velazquez worked at private law firms handling primarily civil matters.

Judge Goldberg Velazquez is an active member of the community she resides in having founded and served as president of her local neighborhood association, the Tuckloc Neighborhood Association. Additionally, Judge Goldberg Velazquez is active in the legal community having served as the President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association (“PRBA”), Treasurer of the PRBA, Chair of the Women’s Committee and Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee. Judge Goldberg Velazquez is on the Board of Visitors of her law school alma alma mater , CUNY School of Law. Judge Goldberg Velazquez is presently a member of the Latino Judges’ Association, New York State Bar Association and the Yonkers Lawyers Association.

Judge Goldberg Velazquez has been a speaker at Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) classes on appellate matters and has been a panel speaker on numerous Bar Association panels throughout her career. In addition, over the years Judge Goldberg Velazquez has received numerous awards for her commitment to the community.

Judge Goldberg Velazquez is a graduate of CUNY School of Law, where she was the managing editor of the New York City Law Review. Judge Goldberg Velazquez earned her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Syracuse University where she graduated Pi Sigma Alpha. While at Syracuse Judge Goldberg Velazquez was on the Dean’s List, a member of the nationally ranked Mock Trial Team.

Judge Goldberg Velazquez resides in Yonkers with her husband, two young daughters (Victoria and Charlotte) and the family dog, Ziggy.
