Program Overview: Implementing New York’s Clean Energy and Climate Change Agenda – Where Are We?

New York is at the forefront in the fight against climate change.  As part of its efforts, there have been numerous regulatory and legislative initiatives over the last few years, including the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, the Accelerated Renewable Energy Growth & Community Benefits Act and the Clean Energy Standard.  This program will cover where New York is in its clean energy and climate agenda, focusing on the work of the Climate Action Council and the impending Scoping Plan, Department of Environmental Conservation’s regulatory initiatives and recent denials of high-profile Title V permits, permitting before the Office of Renewable Energy Siting, NYSERDA’s progress in meeting the Clean Energy Standard and the interplay of the Public Service Commission’s mission to ensure affordable, safe, secure and reliable power.

Highlights:

  1. Is New York on track to meet its ambitious clean energy and climate agenda?
  2. What are the various state agencies (NYSDEC, ORES, NYSERDA and the PSC) doing to ensure that New York’s clean energy and climate goals are met?
