Resolution of Sport-Related Disputes: On the Road to Paris-2024
As recent major international sporting events clearly demonstrate, competitions are no longer exclusively won by athletes on filed and track, but also increasingly by attorneys in front of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and national courts. The upcoming 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games would likely be no exception from this general trend of "judicialization" of international sport. From this perspective, athletes, teams, their coaches as well as other participants in the Olympic Games should be well prepared to protect, if required, their rights in eventual arbitration or litigation. The proposed seminar would address legal topics likely to be encountered during major international sporting events, namely: (i) resolution of doping-related disputes: (ii) ambush marketing; and (iii) applicability of the loss-of-chance doctrine in sporting competitions. The presentations on these topics would be followed by general discussion where the participants could share their experiences in disputes at major sporting events.
