Sustaining the Self: Lawyer Wellness and Purpose After Retirement

Join us for an engaging and thoughtful conversation in a “fireside chat” format, as Jennifer Clayton, Attorney Well-Being Program Manager, sits down with Ann Lapinski, retired lawyer and Attorney Well-Being Committee Member, to explore the emotional and mental journey of preparing for and transitioning into retirement as a lawyer. This session will offer personal insight and practical guidance on a topic that touches every legal professional eventually—retirement.
Jennifer will guide the conversation through a series of questions that shed light on the steps Ann has taken to support lawyers in preparing for retirement, what strategies have proven effective (and what haven't), and how purpose evolves in life after law. The discussion will also cover support systems available to lawyers, meaningful law practice opportunities for retired professionals, and best practices for maintaining mental, physical, and emotional wellness through this significant life change.
Speakers:
Ann Lapinski, Esq. (Ret.), Member, Attorney Well-Being Committee (New York State Bar Association)
Jennifer Clayton, Well-Being Program Manager, Lawyers Assistance Program (New York State Bar Association)
