Hon. Marguerite A. Grays has been appointed Administrative Judge for Civil Matters in the Eleventh District effective immediately, Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence K. Marks announced in a press release on Tuesday.

Judge Grays succeeds Hon. George J. Silver and will oversee the day-to-day operations of Queens County’s Supreme Court-Civil Term.

First elected to the bench in 2000 on the New York City Civil Court, serving Queens County, Judge Grays was elected to the State Supreme Court, Queens County, in 2002 and was re-elected in 2016. Since 2015, she has served as the Eleventh Judicial Districts Deputy Administrative Judge for Civil Matters, helping to oversee the implementation of case management reforms that have advanced the delivery of civil justice in Queens County.

In the press release from the courts announcing the appointment, Judge Marks said he looks forward to working together with Judge Grays to meet Queens County’s evolving civil justice needs and praised her leadership in helping the Queens County’s Supreme Court-Civil Term navigate the many challenges presented these past few months by the COVID-19 crisis.
