New York State Bar Association President Claire P. Gutekunst issued the following statement about Governor Andrew Cuomo’s nomination of Rowan D. Wilson as an associate judge of the New York State Court of Appeals:
“Rowan D. Wilson would bring to the Court of Appeals his expertise in complex commercial litigation as well as his commitment to justice, demonstrated by his extensive pro bono service. He also would increase the diversity of the Court, further enhancing the public’s trust in the state court system.
“The New York State Bar Association has rated Mr. Wilson as “well qualified,” our highest rating, to serve on the state’s highest court. We commend Governor Cuomo for nominating him.”
Wilson’s nomination must be confirmed by the state Senate.
