Surrounded by family, friends and the leaders of New York’s legal community, Kathleen Sweet was inaugurated as the 128th president of the New York State Bar Association. The inauguration and reception was held at the Terrace at Delaware Park in Buffalo on June 3. Justice Melissa Zittel administered the oath of office.

“I have worked with Kathleen for 25 years. Aside from being a great lawyer, she has been a great mentor and a great friend. I am honored to swear Kathleen in as the 128th president of the New York State Bar Association,” said the Eden Town justice prior to administering the oath.

The association and its members showed broad support for Sweet with past presidents traveling from all over the state to be a part of the festivities. Past President and General Counsel David P. Miranda served as the master of ceremonies. Past President Vincent Doyle, Bar Association of Erie County President Lauren Breen and Michael Roach, an attorney and friend, honored Sweet with tributes at the ceremony.
