Lawmakers Approve Bill to End ‘Gay Panic’ Defense, Cuomo Expected to Sign

“The reality is that we as a community need to stand up and say we’re not going to take this,” said Assemblyman Danny O’Donnell, a Democrat from Manhattan who sponsored the bill. “We’re not going to say it’s OK to bash a trans woman’s head into a street in Harlem merely because they exist.”
