Longtime Program Assistant Honored With New York State Bar Association’s Ray of Hope Award
11.12.2025

The New York State Bar Association recently honored Linda McMahon with the Ray of Hope Award for her 30-year commitment to the Lawyer Assistance Program.
McMahon retired in 2020 after spending her career as the program’s administrative assistant. She worked under four directors and brought a rare degree of commitment, devotion and compassion.
She also planned, coordinated and oversaw nearly all Lawyer Assistance Program and Capital District Lawyers Helping Lawyers events.
The Ray of Hope Award is named after the first director of the New York State Bar Association’s Lawyer Assistance Program, Ray Lopez, who established New York State’s first such program 35 years ago. McMahon was honored last week at a dinner recognizing the volunteers who support the program.
Each year, the Capital District Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee recognizes those who make significant contributions to its mission of inspiring hope in recovery for lawyers struggling with substance use and mental health issues.
The New York State Bar Association’s Lawyer Assistance Program is a no-cost, confidential service available to assist lawyers, judges, law students and their families.
