Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on the Trump Investigation: ‘We Go Where the Facts Take Us’

A Manhattan grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump on Thursday. The exact charge is unclear because the indictment remains under seal but the investigation was about payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital affair.

The case puts District Attorney Alvin Bragg in the national spotlight. In December 2021, New York State Bar Association host David Miranda sat down with Manhattan District Attorney-Elect Alvin Bragg. They discussed several issues facing the new DA including violent crime and ghost guns.

Miranda asked Bragg for an assessment of the ongoing investigation of former President Donald Trump.

Bragg said he has a good team remaining in place from his predecessor Cyrus Vance. Bragg spoke of his experience in the New York Attorney General’s office working on a team that investigated the improper use of charitable funds by the Trump Foundation and said of this current investigation “We will go where the facts take us. Nothing less, that’s the job.”
