New York State Bar Association Calls on U.S. Senate To Pass George Floyd Justice in Policing Bill

3.3.2021

By Susan DeSantis

NYSBA President Scott M. Karson issued the following statement today:

The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) supports the George Floyd Justice in Policing bill that the House of Representatives passed today. Ever since the tragic death of George Floyd while in police custody on May 25, 2020, NYSBA’s Task Force on Racial Injustice and Police Reform has been hard at work coming up with its own comprehensive recommendations for reform for New York State and the nation. I join with President-Elect T. Andrew Brown, who co-chairs the task force, in calling on the U.S. Senate to swiftly pass this bill.

About the New York State Bar Association
The New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. Since 1876, the Association has helped shape the development of law, educated and informed the legal profession and the public, and championed the rights of New Yorkers through advocacy and guidance in our communities.
