T. Andrew Brown, president of the New York State Bar Association, issued the following statement today about Gov. Hochul’s budget:

“Governor Hochul has rightly recognized that the state stands on the precipice of great potential and has put forward a far-reaching plan to capitalize on this unique moment. Her first executive budget addresses a number of key focus areas for NYSBA, including the need to combat gun violence and help incarcerated individuals get critical job skills and gain employment. We share the governor’s hope that the investment in communities impacted by violent crime, the expansion of pre-trial and parole services and better cooperation with local law enforcement will make both New York’s streets and its residents safer. These issues have long been among our top priorities as an Association and we look forward to sharing our expertise and resources to make the governor’s vision of a ‘New Era for New York’ a reality.”
