The New York State Bar Association is hosting a global conference in October in Hamburg, Germany, that will feature speakers from all over the world including Cairo, Athens, Tokyo, Milan, Lisbon, Seoul, Glasgow, Kyiv, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Paris, Montréal, and Toronto. U.S. lawyers from Chicago, San Francisco, Hartford, Richmond and Washington, D.C., will join New York lawyers on the panels as will German lawyers from Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.

New York State Bar Association President Kathleen Sweet will attend the conference as the honored guest of NYSBA’s International Section, which is producing three days of global educational programming and social and cultural events including a gala dinner at the International Maritime Museum Hamburg and a “legal dine around” at several Hamburg law firms.

“Our International Section includes a legal community of lawyers that brings together perspectives from all over the world,” Sweet said.

Panelists will discuss The World’s Second Oldest Profession: Maritime Law in an Age of Disruption; Trade Issues Worrying Your Clients; AI-Driven Deals in a Dangerous World: Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, and Legal Risk in Modern M&A; Navigating Trends in Mergers and Acquisitions in the Largest Markets in the Americas: Brazil, Mexico and US; Global Legal Frontiers: Regulating the Online Betting Boom Across the Globe and Digital Nomads: Lawyers on the Move in the Global 21st Century.

The conference will be held Oct. 15 to 17 at Le Méridien Hamburg Hotel. A special room rate is available if the hotel is booked by Aug. 27. All New York admitted lawyers can earn up to 16 NY MCLE credits.

Each year, NYSBA’s International Section hosts a conference outside of the United States to provide American and foreign colleagues the opportunity to meet, network, and expand their international practices. Conferences have been held in Seoul, Mexico City, London, New York City, Tokyo, Montréal, Antigua, Guatemala, Paris, São Paulo, Vienna, Hanoi, Lisbon, Panama, and Sydney.
