Developing Leaders from Within

There is great benefit to developing leaders from within your organization. By looking for leaders within as opposed to bringing in people from the outside, businesses foster greater employee engagement, increases employee performance, and improves retention rates. In doing so, the business benefits from continued historical knowledge of the business, its decisions, and its mistakes, providing for greater efficiencies and effectiveness, and, ultimately, success. The Speakers talk about best tactics for internal leadership development within law firm, private company and public sector perspectives.

Leading in Non-profit and For-profit Environments: Differences and Similarities

Because of the difference in mission, although leaders effective in a for profit setting may be able to leverage their skills and tactics to lead in a non-profit setting, those skills and tactics may need to be tweaked, and vice versa. Similarly, leading in one setting may require certain additional or different skills when seeking to lead in the other. The speakers, having lead in both environments, will describe which skills are interchangeable in both environments, which are similar but require adjusting to apply in one versus the other, and which are unique to the setting in which they are leading.

Leading in Remote and Hybrid Environments

The face of business has changed since 2020 as more businesses are operating in hybrid and remote environment. Remote and hybrid working environments pose challenges, including difficulty with effective communication, lack of team building with the absence of face-to-face meetings and trainings (as well as the occasional “water-cooler encounter”), and work-life balance issues. The speakers discuss best practices for leading in these environments, addressing what works as well as what does not.
