Current Legal Issues in Accessing Medicaid Long Term Supports and Services
More than 300,000 New Yorkers rely on Medicaid Managed Care insurance companies to access needed home and community-based services to remain in the community and out of institutions. Yet, older adults and people with disabilities are routinely denied needed care and face myriad legal barriers to get and keep such services in place. In this program they review the NYS Medicaid home care program, obtain updates on relevant changes to the law and policy, and learn advocacy strategies necessary to fight flimsy denials and reductions through fair hearings and external appeals to the Department of Financial Services.
