Getting Incorporated: Nonprofit Formation and Structuring
The first segment of a multipart program on nonprofit formation, governance and tax exemption, this introductory presentation will explore the principal concepts and issues surrounding the incorporation of new nonprofits, with a particular focus on New York rules, procedures, and best practices. Areas discussed include the benefits and burdens of forming a new nonprofit, the required core governance documents for nonprofits, New York State charitable solicitation registrations and other filings and the basics of federal tax-exemption.
