Problem Gambling 101 and Ethical Obligations

This one-hour CLE program provides attorneys with a foundational understanding of problem gambling and its intersection with legal ethics and professional responsibility. A representative from the New York Council on Problem Gambling introduces “Problem Gambling 101,” including key warning signs, risk factors, and current prevalence data in New York. Participants will gain practical insight into how gambling-related harm may present in clients, colleagues, and within their own professional environments.

An experienced legal ethics attorney then explores the ethical and fiduciary obligations implicated by problem gambling, including issues related to competence, diligence, safeguarding client funds, and reporting misconduct.
