Scientific research shows that a spirit of gratitude leads to increased happiness and better health. A free program co-sponsored by the New York State Bar Association and the New York Bar Foundation takes a closer look at how a practice of  gratitude produces more energy and self-confidence while reducing stress and anxiety.

The Nov. 24 webinar features attorney and theologian Elizabeth Pyjov  who founded Self-Compassion for Lawyers.

Elizabeth Pyjov

During the program,  Pyjov will demonstrate gratitude practices including a period of guided meditation. Participants will learn how gratitude impacts the body and why we need gratitude for better functioning brains. Pyjov has found that gratitude practices help her thrive in her legal career.

“My goal is to get the message of compassion and self-compassion out in as many ways as possible and in a way that makes the world a better place,” she said.

Pyjov combines her experiences in the fields of law, international business, neuroscience and theology to help people find happiness and fulfillment. In many cultures, gratitude is considered the key to a successful and meaningful life. Pyjov will provide tips on how to make gratitude a daily habit, which can improve relationships with family, colleagues and clients.

The virtual event takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to members and non-members alike. Registration is available here.
