About the Presenter
 Delegate Stacey E. Plaskett
represents the United States Virgin Islands’ at-large Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Plaskett, who has been in the spotlight during the impeachment trial as one of the House managers outlining the case against the former President, is in her fourth term representing the US Virgin Islands' at-large congressional district. She earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and her Juris Doctorate from American University’s Washington College of Law.  Delegate Plaskett has a long history of public service having started as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx DA’s office as well as having worked as a political appointee at the Department of Justice where she served as Senior Counsel under both Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson and his successor James Comey.  In the Virgin Islands, she served as General Counsel for the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority, charged with the economic development of the U.S. territory and also worked in private practice as counsel and transactional attorney for numerous companies.

Jerry H. Goldfeder is Special Counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, specializing in election and campaign finance law, public integrity investigations, and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Stroock, he served as Special Counsel to former New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo. He practices law in Manhattan, and has represented elected officials and candidates for public office for over thirty five years—from local office to President of the United States. Mr. Goldfeder is the proud recipient of Fordham’s Adjunct Teacher of the Year in 2015 and 2019.  Mr. Goldfeder is the chair of the NYSBA Task Force on the Presidential Election.

Ava Ayers is the Director of the Government Law Center and an Assistant Professor at Albany Law School. Ava Ayers worked for nine years in the office of the New York Attorney General, where she was a Senior Assistant Solicitor General. She served both as a supervisor and as lead counsel in various high-profile cases involving immigration law, states’ rights, constitutional rights, environmental law, and other issues. She clerked for the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor, now a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, during her term on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She also clerked for the Honorable Gerard Lynch on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
