Meet NY’s Commercial Judges-by And For Junior Lawyers – Part 2
The Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar is having a year long series devoted to having junior attorneys interact and learn from New York’s Commercial Division Justices. We encourage you to invite junior attorneys from your firm to attend which they can do virtually from the office. There is so much to learn. It is free and invaluable for learning what these jurists expect from lawyers who appear before them and other strategies for success in the Commercial Division.
This multi-part program which will involve young lawyers being paired with Commercial Division Justices to put on a "casual" conversation geared to what young lawyers (or future lawyers) should know about the court system and appearing before the Bar Association.
This session's guest: Justice Jennifer G. Schecter
Justice Jennifer Schecter was assigned to the Commercial Division in April 2018. She was appointed as an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 2015 and presided over a General Assignment Part that included commercial, tort, landlord/tenant and CPLR article 78 proceedings. She was elected to the Civil Court of the City of New York in 2009 and was assigned to New York County’s Civil Court (2013-2014) and Criminal Court (2010-2012).
