The Legal Landscape For Animals In Canada: Recent Developments Challenging The Status Quo
This talk will introduce participants to the general legal treatment of animals as mere property under Canadian law as well as survey recent law reform efforts seeking to alter the legal treatment of animals in certain industries. The talk will also address policy initiatives that encourage Canadians to rethink their typical outlooks and interactions with animals and consider the impact of these law and policy efforts to meaningfully shift the general legal status of animals.
