Animal Welfare In The U.K.
Dr Joe Wills’ presentation will provide a critical overview of animal protection law in Britain. The presentation will primarily focus on Britain’s main animal protection statue – the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (and its Scottish and Northern Irish counterparts). After outlining the key provisions of this piece of legislation, Dr Wills will provide an assessment of its effectiveness in protecting animals and examine its strengths, limitations and areas for reform.
