Animals and the Z Factor: Law, Society and Zoonotic Diseases
From COVID to malaria to flu viruses that jump species, animal to human disease transmission is a global concern. Consequently, and unsurprisingly, zoonotic diseases implicate a wide swath of the legal landscape. Speakers from government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and academia will address key legal issues raised by zoonoses in science and medicine, agriculture, government relations, public health, companion animal care and the environment.
Experts in their fields discuss the roles of federal and state government and applicable laws and regulations that aim to promote scientific and industry vigilance, mitigation and prevention of disease transmission, and the balancing of economic and other harms to both humans and animals.
