2024 New Laws for Animals
This program will summarize and analyze new bills passed by the New York State Legislature in 2024 and updates to laws chapter laws from 2023. Topics to be discussed include animal highway crossings, protections against racehorse slaughter, dogs in state parks, appropriations for the Companion Animal Capital Fund, and deer management programs. These bills affect wildlife, companion animals, and horses. Panelists will be members of the Legislative Subcommittee of the NYSBA Committee on Animal Law (COAL). Members of the COAL Legislative Subcommittee research and write legislative bill memos on about twenty bills each year.
