It is the purpose of the Intellectual Property Law Section Diversity Initiative to achieve membership diversity of the Section and its Committees by reaching out to legal professionals and law students of diverse backgrounds, including, race, religion, gender, national origin, ethnicity, age, and sexual orientation. Through the Executive Committee, the Diversity Initiative should accomplish this objective by: (i) encouraging participation of attorneys and law students of diverse backgrounds in Section activities, (ii) promoting diversity among speakers and panelists of Section and Committee programs, (iii) recognizing top achievements by attorneys and law students of diverse backgrounds in the area of intellectual property law, (iv) recognizing intellectual property law practitioners, law firms, and corporations who have demonstrated leadership in promoting a diverse workforce, including the hiring, retention, and promotion of attorneys of diverse backgrounds, and (v) collaborating with Section Committees, other sections, and other bar associations, the public and private sectors in connection with various diversity initiatives and projects.
