The sports industry and consumption of sports content have steadily evolved over the span of decades, but the last decade has highlighted three pivotal topics that have a direct impact on sports: the growth of eSports competition and gaming; name, image, and likeness legislation for collegiate athlete;, and the proliferation of NFT’s in the sports scene. While all of these present exciting and intriguing opportunities for athletes and sports fans alike, there are serious legal questions that need to be considered. This panel will address these topics as we see sports continue to evolve into not just a form of entertainment but a business.
Topics include:
• NIL, NFTs and eSports
• Data privacy issues
• Intellectual property ownership and conveyance of rights issues associated

You’ve probably heard about the metaverse, but aren’t sure what it is or why it matters. One way to think of it is as a merging of digital and physical worlds – a 3D world that will be the next iteration of the Internet, and will bring together VR, AR, and digital meeting spaces, and be built around digital assets and cryptocurrency economies. One reason why it matters is because the collection of tremendous amounts of personal data will be fundamental to the metaverse.
Our speakers will discuss:
• Different definitions of the metaverse
• Types of personal data that might be collected in the metaverse
• How data privacy and security laws might apply in the metaverse
• How consent might be obtained in the metaverse
• Who will regulate the metaverse
