2026 Update on Good Cause Eviction in New York State: Focus on Municipalities Outside the New York City Metro Area

On April 20, 2024, New York State adopted changes to the laws governing the eviction process and the landlord tenant relationship. This program will describe how the "Good Cause Eviction Law" has changed the eviction process in Upstate New York. Presenters will describe how good cause eviction is functioning in Rochester, New York, where good cause eviction has been adopted by the municipality. They will also highlight the way the state good cause eviction law has altered the process even in areas that have not yet opted-in.
