Arbitral Institutions: International Perspectives on Handling International Arbitration Cases

Arbitral Institutions: International Perspectives on Handling International Arbitration Cases

Arbitral Institutions_675

This panel brings together leaders from major arbitral institutions in the United States and abroad to compare how they administer cross-border disputes and to unpack the challenges unique to international cases. Panelists will outline their institutions’ approaches to case management—from filing to award—including tribunal appointment, interim relief, consolidation and joinder, emergency procedures, and technology-enabled hearings. They will address recurring pressure points such as multi-party and multi-contract structures, parallel proceedings and court coordination, confidentiality and cybersecurity, time and cost control, enforceability, and the impact of sanctions and third-party funding. The discussion will highlight recent rule reforms, process and procedural innovations, what is working in practice, and where further evolution is needed, offering practical takeaways for counsel, arbitrators, and in-house teams navigating institutional arbitration for international disputes as distinct from domestic or national ones.
