Human Resource Issues in the Time of COVID-19 (Webinar)
New York businesses are all looking forward to returning to work. However, this return to work is unlike any other in the past.
So many of the human resources issues that need to be addressed are new. What are the boundaries of an employer’s obligations to keep the workplace safe? What happens if an employee gets sick? Even those issues that already required attention pre-COVID-19 are different in the face of this virus. What are an employer’s obligations to provide reasonable accommodation to an employee who is afraid to work because of an underlying health condition? Do I really have to take my employee’s temperature before they walk into the office?
Careful, well researched, and diligently constructed human resources policies are even more critically important in the face of COVID-19 — both for the purpose of providing the safest workplace possible for employees that come to work every day and to protect a business from a range of new potential liabilities. In this program, we will explore the legal parameters of an employer’s obligations in the context of a pandemic and practical steps every employer should be taking right now.
