Possibilities and Pitfalls for Minority Unions_675

This CLE will present viewpoints from union and management-side attorneys on the recent emergence and impact of minority unions at large, well-known companies. The panel will consider the legal implications of non-traditional employee representation outside the collective bargaining context, as well as exploring the bounds of protected activity when carried out by a union with minority status; and permissible employer restrictions on workers seeking to organize. The panel will also address the role minority unions could play in advancing, or obstructing, broader social, economic, and environmental justice goals. Ultimately, the panel seeks to answer the question of how the minority unions, and the unique considerations that come with them, fit in a modern workplace
