On the heels of cannabis adult-use legalization and regulation in New York, the NYSBA Ethics Committee has issued Ethics Opinion 1225, which addresses: 1) counseling clients engaged in recreational marijuana business; 2) accepting partial ownership of recreational marijuana business in lieu of fee; and 3) personal use of recreational marijuana. A panel of experts will examine the Opinion in detail, and discuss its practical impacts for cannabis law practitioners and for attorneys' adult use of cannabis in New York.
