What is a Service Animal? Assistance Animals Law Update 2024

What is a Service Animal? Assistance Animals Law Update 2024

Service Animal

What is a service animal and what is an emotional support animal, and what is the difference between the two? What federal laws provide protections, such as the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), and what additional protections does New York provide? What other laws come into play, such as in housing? What law covers airplane travel and what issues arise there? What animals are allowed to be service animals or emotional support animals? What are your rights if you have a service animal, including what you do not need to do or provide? What accommodations are you entitled to, and what accommodations are you not entitled to? This program will discuss these and other issues surrounding Assistance Animals, to enable you to better understand this area of law for yourself, and to better serve and advise your clients.
