September 22, 2014: New York State Bar Association Selects Elizabeth Derrico of American Bar Association For a Top Position

Elizabeth Derrico, an executive at the American Bar Association (ABA), has been named an associate executive director of the New York State Bar Association.
In her new position, Derrico will serve as associate executive director of strategic member engagement. Between 1984 and 1995, she worked at the State Bar Association, first as a local bar services representative and then as associate director of communications.
Derrico has been associate director for the division of bar services at the Chicago headquarters of American Bar Association (ABA) since 1995. In this position, she has management responsibility for the Division of Bar Services’ consulting services and field services program, clearinghouse and information services, Bar Leadership Institute, and social media and marketing initiatives.
“Elizabeth Derrico is well respected among bar associations across the nation. Her energy and expertise will help the State Bar Association continue to best serve our 75,000 members in a changing legal environment,” said President Glenn Lau-Kee of New York City (Kee & Lau-Kee).
“We are thrilled to have Elizabeth joining our team,” said David Watson, executive director of the Association. “Her wealth of experience and unique knowledge of bar associations will be of tremendous significance as we seek to provide outstanding service and value to our members.”

A graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, Dericco earned a master’s degree in public affairs from the State University of New York at Albany. She will begin her job in late October.
Derrico is a member of the National Association of Bar Executives and has chaired its Communications Section.
The 75,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
